IMS provides extracorporeal shockwave equipment for a non-invasive treatment which is mostly used to treat kidney stones (ESWL) and in physical therapy and orthopedics (ESWT).
Extracorporeal Shockwave Lithotripsy (ESWL) uses high-energy shock (pressure) waves to break up stones. Tiny pieces of kidney stones can then move through the urinary tract more easily.
Extracorporeal Shockwave Therapy (ESWT) sends acoustic shock waves into bone or soft tissue, in effect reinjuring the area on a cellular level and breaking up the scarring that has penetrated tendons and ligaments. This therapy also is being used to treat erectile dysfunction and chronic pelvic pain. It also promotes faster wounds healing.
